Hey there everyone! Here’s a super-speedy March summary for Jade Spring. (How is it already March…) Last week I put out a quick video tour of the game , which you can check out below. (That’s why these development notes are a bit late – I thought I’d focus on putting the tour together first.) I’m so grateful that people have been watching and enjoying it!
Lots and lots of additions and improvements have gone into the game even since the tour – I’m trying to get things as intuitive, bug-free, and polished as possible. The problems that crop up as a result of competing mechanics and systems can also get pretty spicy*, so I’ve been addressing many of those.
And lastly, the Steam page will be going up next Monday the 17th! You’ll be able to wishlist it and stuff, and eventually add it to your library for free once it’s out. I know it’s a small deal for a tiny fan game, but I’ve never done that kinda thing before nor gotten nearly this far, so I’m quite anxious but also very excited to have made it to this point. Thank you from my heart to everyone who’s followed the development of Jade Spring and been so supportive of the adventure.
Been tuning up Jade Spring's decoration pane, it now has a search bar and displays effects and info more clearly! Also added a built-in screenshots feature 📷 to make sharing your garden easier #GameDev

*For instance, there’s a decoration which you can interact with to change the time of day. But what happens if the player puts it on top of a weed or bug swarm – which one receives the interaction? And if the player puts two right next to each other, how do you prevent both dialogues from opening at once? These are the sorts of spicy (often unanticipated) problems that you have to solve.
